About us

Formed in Spring 2021, DSABL aims to foster a supportive community where disabled students at Berkeley Law receive mentorship, facilitate access to resources and accommodations, and provide a space to advocate and understand disability rights. We invite both disabled students and allies to join our community.

Statement from Dean Erwin Chemerinsky:

I am deeply committed as dean to making Berkeley Law an inclusive community where all of our students can thrive and receive an excellent legal education.  I know that students with disabilities often face many obstacles in higher education.  Berkeley Law is committed to doing all we can to eliminate those obstacles.  I am delighted at the formation of the Disabled Students Association at Berkeley Law.  I very much look forward to working with them to ensure full access to every aspect of the Law School and making Berkeley an environment where all of our students can excel.

The National Disabled Law Students Association (“NDLSA”) supports the unique needs of disabled law students before, during, and after their legal education by creating a sense of community through advocacy, peer network facilitation, and disability diversity education.

NDLSA aims to eliminate the stigma of disability within the legal profession and foster an environment where law students and lawyers are easily able to obtain the accommodations necessary to achieve career success.
